Temporary styles

When we wear our Braid-in Dreadlocks, they live with us - they go dancing, swimming, get thrown up in buns and swirled all over the place.

After 6-8weeks of wear, you may notice your dreadlocks don't look as fresh and new as they were day one.

Some people love this worn-in, more natural look, however if you prefer them to look more tight and uniform, you can re-heatseal them.

The Heat Sealing process is one of the last steps in the creation of Synthetic Dreadlocks. It involves pouring or dipping your locs into freshly boiled water.

When you combine extreme heat and water, you temporarily break down the hydrogen bonds in the hair, reverting it back to its original form. With the addition of gravity in the pour method, all the loose hair will be pulled back down into the loc.

If youre happy with how your locs have held up and don't feel like a heat seal in necessary - after take-down, you can soak/rinse your set with some essential oils. For a further cleanse, I like to Sage or Palo Santo my locs as a nice ritual pre or post install.

NOTES:

Heat Sealing works best on Kanekalon hair. You may not get as good results with Henlon, but you will still notice a re-tightening.
Some textured hairtypes, such as curly/wavy ends, cannot be poured as this will break-down the curl pattern. For this hairype, try the dipping/pulling through method with a large bowl or baking tray, while keeping the ends seperate.
You will not need to integrate this method if you have human hair dreadlocks/extensions as human hair has its own method of maturing.
Allow your dreadlocks to air dry before you store them or re-install. Prolonged moisture in your locs is not welcome.
